DONATION Guidelines
& INFORMATION

WE ACCEPT

  • Men’s & Women’s designer and name brand apparel, shoes, handbags, and accessories. 

  • Garments must be freshly laundered or dry cleaned, and in new or excellent used condition.

  • Formal gowns, wedding gowns, youth and children’s clothing accepted from VIP Partners only, at this time.

  • Swimwear and lingerie, new with tags only.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT

  • No items with stains, odors, tears, holes, rips, fading, pilling, missing buttons, broken zippers, shrunk or stretched fabric, real fur, or otherwise in poor condition (with the exception of garments intentionally distressed by the manufacturer) .

  • No socks or undergarments.

  • No items with offensive or hateful messages, or profanity.


MORE ABOUT DONATIONS

*Donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowable by law. The IRS may require appraisals for some donations. Appraisals must be obtained by the donor at the donors expense prior to the donation. The Cause Closet does not provide appraisals. Determining IRS appraisal requirements, and obtaining appraisals are the sole responsibility of the donor. The Cause Closet does not provide an itemized list of donations. Always remember to to consult with a financial advisor or the IRS for additional information or when in doubt about the tax deductibility of a donation.

All donations made to The Cause Closet are non-returnable. Once donations have been received by The Cause Closet they become the sole property of The Cause Closest. Donated items that fail to sell in a timely manner or are determined to be below quality standards will be donated to other charitable organizations that provide clothing and other essentials free of charge to those in need, recycled responsibly, or otherwise disposed of at The Cause Closet’s sole discretion. Monetary donations are non-refundable.


The Cause Closet does not represent or fundraise on behalf of another charitable organization. The Cause Closet is sole owner of all donated good and funds and has sole control of how net proceeds from the sale of donated goods are distributed.

VIP Partner’s Charities - Net proceeds from the sale of items donated by our VIP Partners will be granted to the charity chosen by each VIP Partner. The chosen Charity must be a verifiable registered 501(c)(3) organization, American Indian Tribe, or Public Educational Institution in good standing. If the organization chosen is no longer in service or has defaulted, The Cause Closet reserves the right to grant the net proceeds to a like organization chosen by The Cause Closet.
