The Cause Closet began with the idea that small changes, like how we shop for clothing and how we dispose of clothing we no longer want, can make a big impact in the world.
We believe giving is always in style, and you don’t have to sacrifice style to shop sustainably. That’s why we created The Cause Closet, a nonprofit organization that’s turning stylish donations into charitable contributions.

Helping the environment
Buying gently used secondhand fashion helps reduce textile waste. When you shop preloved apparel from The Cause Closet online store, you help the environment AND charities, too!
SHOPPING For A CAUSE
When you shop at The Cause Closet online store, every purchase makes an impact. The Cause Closet grants net proceeds from all purchases to a variety charities. Purchases from VIP Collections benefit the specific charities chosen by each VIP Partner and are noted in the VIP Collection details. At this time, net proceeds from all other 2025 purchases benefit the following nonprofit organizations and the incredible work they do:

Helping COMMUNITY CLOTHes CLOSETS
Occasionally, The Cause Closet receives donated apparel and accessories that don't quite meet our high-quality standards for resale but still have plenty of life left in them. They might be missing a button, have a tiny stain, or a small hole. Fear not! When that happens, our amazing team of volunteers mends or repairs what they can to ensure items are in good condition for reuse. Those pieces are then donated to local organizations with community clothes closets that provide clothing free of charge to those in need. It’s all about ensuring that useable donations go on to brighten more lives instead of winding up in the landfill.
